The Winds of Missionary Change

Ok so the past couple weeks have been really crazy with the temple and then memorial day but I feel like they have been some of the best days of my mission.  I guess first things first.  I will be serving in the Grapevine area on a bike and my companions name is Elder Kaelin.   Im only moving about 15 minutes away which is pretty crazy and I’ve actually already been there on an exchange before the Stake split.  I’ll be going where Elder Chain from Chicago was just serving at so it's pretty sweet.  I’m not looking forward to riding a bike especially in the heat but I got a camel back so hopefully that will help out a lot.  We have also seen some pretty cool miracles here in the last couple weeks.  We set a date with an investigator who is totally golden.  She doesn't have any problems, she called us to teach her, and she even suggested getting work off on Sundays so she will be able to come every week.  Shes got the coolest boys too, one of them totally reminds me of the little kid from the movie up.  We also found of family of four where the dad used to go to the LDS church all the time and wanted us to teach his kids and give them the chance to accept it or not.  They came to church and stayed for all three hours and loved it.  For memorial day we had a bbq and the kids swam at the ward mission leaders home and the family of four and the lady with a date set all came and hung out it was perfect.  It's a real bummer that I’ll be leaving but I should be close enough to where I can come back for the baptism so that is at least a positive.  I’ve been super spoiled here in Trophy Club so tomorrow when I’m in my new area it will most likely be a total shock.  Im excited though and ready to work hard.

Short week, short email

Sorry about not emailing on Monday but we had the chance to go to the temple today which was amazing.  We also got to do a little shopping and I got a couple ties and a pair of pants.  I couldn't find any short sleeve shirts; not sure why, maybe I just didn't look hard enough.  This is going to be really short because we ran out of time with all the traveling we did today.  We had a super good week with zone conference and the temple.  We also are teaching a new investigator and she would be considered a "golden investigator"  She is super awesome and has two little kids that are amazing.  We also found out Elder Iglinski will be training and that I’m getting transferred. I don't know where yet though.  Sorry about the short email, next week will be better I promise I only had time to email home and the mission president today.

Catching up on the things back home

So I had the chance to call home yesterday and it was really cool.  The hour we had to call flew by and seemed like only ten minutes.  It was nice to catch up and hear whats going on back home but now I need to re-focus on missionary work.  This Tuesday we are having zone conference which is once every three month so were really excited about that.  Going to zone conference always refuels the fire you have more than ever so that's nice.  I just received an email that was kinda sad...I had to submit two new passport pictures for my visa on Tuesday and I got an email saying they will take 60 day minimum to process. They did however say they might send someone to the consulate so they can talk in person and try to speed things up so there is a little hope.  We have been teaching a lady from South Africa who just moved here.  She read a lot of the Book of Mormon but it was very confusing to her.  We figured it is because English is her second language.  So when we drove the pictures up to the mission office we figured we would see if they had an Afrikaans Book of Mormon and surprisingly they did!  That was an answer to our prayers and we were able to give it to her and she was so happy and excited to have it.  We talked to her a few days later and she told us it makes a ton more sense now and it's a lot easier to read and understand.  I've learned a ton of patience since being out and that you need to keep trying and doing what you are supposed to.  If you are doing the right thing that it is Gods will.

It's crazy sometimes how things happen

This week has been really good. I got to go on an exchange and spent a day in a bike area which is always fun. I feel like I have been really spoiled being in a car area. Yesterday after our meeting in the morning we saw a set of Elders from another Ward talking to a man on the couch in the foyer. Later that day they called us and said the man is from Africa and has a Book of Mormon and just wanted to learn more about the church. He happens to live only like a minute away which is in our area. We stopped by his house or his brother’s house because I think he is only visiting for a month but we dropped off the restoration pamphlet. We called to let him know when church is held and he said he would come to church next Sunday and talk with us. It's crazy sometimes how things happen and how your prayers get answered. I know that Heavenly Father heard our prayers and knows us personally. I’m so grateful for the gospel in my life and the happiness it brings me and now for the opportunity to share that happiness with others.
